The Holy Scriptures have literally thousands of inspirational and educational passages. If I had to pick just one passage of Scripture to leave to my kids, what could this potentially greatest of all life-changing passages be?
I never attended a seminary; I never had a class in Theology. What I have to tell you is what this uneducated layman in Theology believes with all his heart can be the greatest life-changing words in all of Scripture.
We can all agree that we are born with a complete lack of knowledge. We had to learn to talk and how to walk. We have to learn how to sit upon a stool and how to go to school. I stress the word “Learn,” because the super-biblical passage I’m going to share with you starts with that word.
We can all agree that everything we know, and everything we are, we had to learn. This passage also has the word “SAVOR” in it. The dictionaries define this word as:
• To enjoy completely
• To taste or smell with relish
• To enjoy with appreciation
• To dwell on with delight
• To enjoy with pleasure
Here are those greatest life-changing words:
(Learn to Savor How Good the Lord Is) — Psalms 34:19
It's difficult to believe that eight little words can actually change your life and your enjoyment of it.
The blessings we receive every minute of every day are too numerous to count: your beating heart that never stops to rest, the lungs that never stop giving us clean air to breathe, the daily food that we receive. That cool glass of water on a summer day is the same blessing we receive as we kneel to pray. The trillion functions of our brain — and on and on.
If we learn to savor the goodness of the Lord, there can be no time or place for worry, stress, or sadness. Let us learn to truly appreciate the countless blessings we receive every minute of every day.
Let us learn to be grateful and savor the goodness of the Lord each and every day. Let us give thanks for the gift of life. This is a learning process! We don’t know this at birth. (Some of us don’t know it yet — learn it now; it will change your life. It will change the way you live, now and in the after-life.)
“They that HOPE in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar as with eagles’ wings. They will run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint.”
— Isaiah 40:31
“For in Him we live and move and have our being.”
Try living without that mysterious force that we call life
— Acts 17:28
