Joy to the World
(The Lord Has Come)
The words of this carol say it all.
I have the audacity to add to them.
Our planet's joy is in very short supply.
There are reasons, many reasons.
The whole world's in disarray
Wars are raging everywhere
Men are seeking new ways to kill each other
We watch as brothers fight their brothers
We see our values disappearing out of sight
Killing the unborn is now a basic human right.
Viruses may mutate and kill us all
The rich and poor, young and old
The great and very small
There is a talk about a world war that could annihilate the human race
On this cold and gloomy day
We must go to Jesus when we pray
He's the source of human joy
He is risen; He's alive
We must go to Him
If we are to survive
He will fill our hearts with the purest joy
Let us see what His scriptures have to share
So we won't have to suffer from despair
There is hope
Despite all the ills and troubles
Through Him, we can thrive, and we can cope
