Lord, we have become accustomed to repay
We give gifts when we receive one
We return a smile with our own
We say kind words when we hear them
But how can we begin to thank you?

You give us everything
Except the words we need
To express our thankfulness
Without the proper words
How can we obtain the fortitude
For all your gifts and blessings
To express to you our gratitude

How can we thank you for:
Your plants that give us air to breathe
Your soil that gives us bread to eat
Your simple vines that give us the finest wines to drink
For the constant beating in our breast
For the fluids flowing through our veins
The clouds that bring us cooling rains
For your glowing star, we call our sun
That gives light, warmth, and life to everyone

How can we tell you how we feel
Your mercy and your gifts are very real
Your blessings to us are without number
Why are you so good to us, we wonder
We have so many questions
We just have to wait and ponder
But they will have to wait
Until we see you face to face
Then we'll ask you all our questions
And present to you our imperfect earthly case
We have searched the scriptures
We have prayed for answers from above
All we find is for repayment
For your countless gifts and blessings
The only thing you ask of us is love

You shall love the Lord your God
With all your heart
With all your soul
With all your strength
And with all your mind
