A Sad and Joyful Story
Writings:
A Sad and Joyful Story
In the cold of winter
there is in every nation
a happy, joyous celebration
The world fills with happiness and joy
We hear words of kindness and good cheer
Church bells ring,
Some people go to pray
It's called the best time of the year.
Children sing the ancient carols
People put up festive colored lights
to break the stillness and the darkness of the nights

When church bells ring
We can almost hear the angels sing
The words we use cannot express this joy
This is to celebrate the birthday
of a very special baby boy
His royal birth had been foretold
By the prophets, oh so old
Those same scriptures tell us,
The years went swiftly by
This boy becomes a man

He healed the sick
He turned water into the finest wine
‘The wind and sea obeyed His every word
To the hungry, he gave fish and bread
He gave life and breath to those already dead
He was the long-awaited Israel's Messiah
His was a very special birth
He came to bring us peace and rest
To bring forgiveness and salvation to tired planet earth
He was called the Lord of Lords
He was called the Prince of Peace.

But, His own received him naught.
Sinful men made plans to kill him
This became an evil, wicked, senseless loss:
They nailed the King of Glory, and King of Angels to a cross
But on a warm and sunny springtime day
When all the flowers are in bloom
We have an ever-greater celebration
We have a resurrection day
Its called our Easter Sunday
Because He lives again today, tomorrow.
for eternity and forever more.
