Lord, your gifts to us are so immense
You leave us basking in your light
The words we use to thank you seem so trite
Teach us the correct words we can use so we can say
The right words when we pray

Do we need big words to give you thanks?
Do we need to sing and holler?
Do we need to kneel down when we pray?
Will our words be understood?
What words should be used to express our gratitude?

Lord, you made us, so we pray
"Accept the words of humble man
Speaking only, the simple words we can"
We lack for nothing so we ask you
To accept our simple words of Thanksgiving
For as long as you grant us
Your wondrous gift of living
